Salem Awari

Contemporary Saudi Artist

Salem Awari is a multidisciplinary Saudi artist born in Jeddah in 1981. With a background in mechanical engineering, he began his artistic practice in 2013, developing a distinctive approach that bridges industrial processes and contemporary art.

His work centers on exploring human and social relationships, collective memory, and the transformation of materials. Through the use of industrial elements, recycled components, and mixed media, Awari creates layered compositions that reflect the complexity of human experience.

Inspired by everyday life, personal experiences, and social interactions, his artworks aim to go beyond the visible surface, revealing deeper emotional and conceptual dimensions. His practice often involves deconstructing and reconstructing materials to express themes of connection, memory, and identity.

Awari has participated in numerous group exhibitions across Saudi Arabia, conducted workshops at Ithra, and took part in an artist residency in Jeddah under Hafez Gallery. His works are part of several governmental, commercial, and private collections.

Each artwork represents a continuous dialogue between material, memory, and human connection.
